Delores Anna Hill lived 98 remarkable years, and on September 8th, 2026, she was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by the love of the family she treasured so deeply.
A Service of Celebration will be held at Dirks-Blem Funeral Chapel in Olivia on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Derek Beehler of Grace Community Church officiating. A lunch will be served immediately after the service at Max’s Grill. Burial at Redwood Falls Cemetery will follow the lunch, at approximately 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 9:30, prior to the service at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia.
Delores was born November 12, 1927, on a farm in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the youngest child of Fred and Emma Fluck. She grew up on a farm south of Olivia, attended County School #104, and graduated as valedictorian of Olivia High School in 1945.
Faith was at the center of Delores’s life from an early age. At ten years old, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Her faith became the foundation upon which she built her life and remained a source of strength, joy, and purpose throughout her many years. She loved the Lord deeply, faithfully served through her church and community, and was a devoted member of Grace Community Church in Olivia.
While working as a secretary in Redwood Falls, Delores met her sweetheart and the love of her life, Walter Hill. They were united in marriage in 1947 and shared 53 wonderful years together until Walter’s passing in 2001. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, love, and family and were blessed with two children.
Of all the blessings in Delores’s life, few meant more to her than her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and as her family grew to include great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, so did her joy. She treasured time spent together— visiting, laughing, sharing stories, celebrating holidays and family gatherings, and, especially, playing games.
Delores loved a good game and the friendly competition that came along with it. Whether gathered around the table playing cards or another favorite game, some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved. The laughter, conversation, and memories created around those games became part of the fabric of her family and will continue to bring smiles for generations to come.
Delores also had a heart for serving others. She was active in her church throughout her life and willingly served wherever she was needed. Her Christian faith was not simply something she spoke about; it was reflected in the way she lived, loved, served, and cared for those around her.
In 1959, Delores and her family moved to Whittier, California. After Walter retired early due to health issues, they eventually returned to Minnesota and settled in Danube.
Delores served for several years as president of the Danube Senior Citizens and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
In 2004, Delores moved to East Ridge Court in Renville, Minnesota, where she continued her lifelong tradition of serving others as a volunteer for RenVilla Health. In 2025, she moved to The Legacy of Delano assisted living in Delano, Minnesota.
Delores leaves behind a remarkable legacy—not simply because of the many years she was blessed to live, but because of the way she lived them. Her legacy can be found in the faith she demonstrated, the family she loved, the people she served, and the countless memories she created along the way.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Nancy) Hill of Florence, Oregon; daughter, Linda (Kent) Martin of Delano, Minnesota; grandchildren Carrie (Ryan) Igl, Brian (Brenda) Erickson, Todd Martin, Chad (Renee) Martin, and Scott (Caitlyn) Martin; great- grandchildren Zack Rodriguez, Ben Rodriguez, Emma Igl, Alexis Erickson, Brooke Erickson, Jacob Erickson, Bryce Martin, Bailey (Dylan) Stover, Brooklynn Martin, Dylan Martin, Caden Martin, Evan Martin, Hazel Martin, and Eloise Martin; and great-great-grandchildren, Bentley Milburn, Beckkum Milburn, Mahleia Stover, and Westyn Stover.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 2001; her parents, Fred and Emma Fluck; sisters Evelyn (Harold) Somerfield and Lorene (Floyd Rand/Delbert Schafer); brothers Stanley (Verona) Fluck, Wesley (Viola) Fluck, Harold (Rose) Fluck and son-in-law Marty Erickson.
Those who knew Delores will remember her deep devotion to the Lord and her unwavering love for her family.
Her family will miss her deeply, but they find comfort in the same faith that guided Delores throughout her life. She knew where her hope rested and believed in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. After a long and faithful life, her family celebrates knowing that Delores has been called home to her Lord and Savior and reunited with Walter and the loved ones who went before her.
