It was a rough start to the season for the BOLD Warrior Football team as they dropped their season opener 51-13 to the Sleepy Eye United last Friday in Olivia. The Warriors opened the contest locked in on playing mistake free football. A strong first drive turned south however, as senior tight end Tyce Weigel suffered a shoulder injury and was sidelined for the rest of the game.

The BOLD Warriors got their first win of the season last Tuesday evening, hanging on to defeat the Melrose Area Dutchmen three sets to two.

BOLD started out strong once again in the opening set, jumping out to a 6-3, after trailing 2-3, following four consecutive points on Lucy Remer serves.

The Dutchmen clawed back to tie the set at 6-6 before the Warriors reclaimed the serve and went up 8-6 following an Abby King block.

Extreme heat resulted in shortened races for both the BOLD-BLHS and MACCRAY-RCW Cross-Country teams as they opened the 2026 season last Thursday at the Lac qui Parle Valley-Dawson Boyd meet at the Appleton Golf Course. BOLD-BLHS’s Liam Schlueter led the varsity boys group, finishing in third place with a time of 14:38.24.

It has been a busy summer for the Wrestling Robideau’s as Oklahoma State’s 2026 NCAA National Champion Landon Robideau and younger brother, St. Michael-Albertville junior standout Lincoln Robideau, competed on some of sport’s biggest stages.

Following his National Championship, Landon defeated Seth Mendoza 8-2 to take home the gold at the 20U U.S. Open in Las Vegas last April.

The BOLD Warriors kicked off the 2026 season with a 3-1 loss to the MACCRAY Wolverines last Thursday evening in Clara City.

The Warriors have their sights set on another successful campaign under Coach Brian Kingery, and started out strong out of the gate leading the majority of the way during the opening set.

Some ideas wait quietly for their moment. For years, Mackenna Hinderks carried one in the back of her mind: the wish of a Renville County West Fellowship of Christian Athletes program.

As her senior year approached, however, waiting was no longer an option. If Hinderks wanted FCA to become part of RCW while she was still a student, she had one final opportunity to make it happen.

The Bird Island Bullfrogs 2026 season and state title hopes came to an end over the weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Kimball Express Saturday at the Mini Met in Jordan.
The Bullfrogs threatened to take an early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Shawn Dollerschell worked a one-out walk, and Dylan Gass and Elliott Serbus followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases.

The Bird Island Bullfrogs are headed back to the State Tournament following a pair of wins over the Willmar Indians and the Marshall Athletics this past weekend in Raymond.

Bird Island opened the District 8 playoff tournament with a disappointing 7-6 loss to the Athletics back on Aug. 8., but stormed back with a 10-0 win over the Willmar Rails on Aug. 9 to advance to the second weekend.
