The Minnesota Horticultural Society (MHS) today announced that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has officially issued a proclamation declaring Aug. 27 through Sept. 7 as Minnesota State Horticultural Society Days. “We are very proud of our history and our ties to Minnesota’s heritage of growing. It’s a great honor to have the governor recognize it as well with his proclamation,” said Lara Lau-Schommer, Executive Director at MHS.

The Minn Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (MFB PAC) recently announced their endorsement for Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, MN-07, in the upcoming November 2026 elections. The announcement included a note of appreciation for her support of Farm Bureau policy and agriculture.

A feasibility study outlining a potential countywide approach to recreation and wellness programming using existing school and municipal facilities rather than requiring a newly constructed facility was presented during the Aug. 27 Renville County HRA/EDA Board meeting.

Back in 2020, the Minnesota collection of Museums and Historical Societies did an A-Z of history on their social media pages. We shared this content in hopes that people would stay in touch with the organizations during the nearly year-long shutdown by the state of Minnesota due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minnesota waterfowl seasons are around the corner, and hunters have a wide variety of opportunities to look forward to in 2026, with seasons starting Saturday, Sept. 5. Early teal season runs Saturday, Sept. 5 through Wednesday, Sept. 9, with shooting hours from sunrise to sunset.

The DNR is asking hunters to avoid shooting marked research bears. These bears have large, colorful ear tags and wear radio collars. The Minnesota bear hunting season opens Tuesday, Sept. 1.
