As we kick off the new school year, we want to welcome all our returning and new Jaguar families. My name is Peyton Mills. I am the new superintendent of Schools at Renville County West, and I previously served as the High School Principal for the last four years.

Renville County West school kicked off their homecoming week with the 2026 Homecoming Coronation Ceremony Monday evening in Renville. The event’s ‘Pixar Theme’ was represented well in both the decor and the school’s upcoming ‘Spirit Week’ days. Along with the introduction of candidates, the district’s fall coaches spoke and introduced the cross-country, football, and volleyball teams.

The Bird Island Cultural Centre is excited to present works by the Quilters Along the Yellowstone Trail this September.  The display fills the exhibit area with vibrant and intricate pieces by dedicated quilters from Granite Falls to Hector.  Treasurer of the group, Carolyn Olson, was on hand to talk about the exhibit and give an insight into the labor of love that is quilting.

Students dismissed for day following kitchen issues

Kenneth Ziesmer, age 87, of Olivia, MN passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. A memorial service will be on Thursday, September 17, at 2 p.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Pastor Matt Hausken officiating. Burial will be in the Olivia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church on Thursday.
