More than 125 family members, friends and community members gathered on a beautiful September evening for the annual Hospice Butterfly Release. The meaningful event provided an opportunity to honor and remember loved ones through music, reflection, prayer and fellowship, culminating with the release of butterflies in the new butterfly garden within Alma's Garden.

For BOLD Food Service Director Margaret Flemming, serving more meals made from scratch is both a new direction and a return to the way school kitchens once operated. Flemming and members of the BOLD kitchen staff took part in a hands-on training course Sept. 2 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church kitchen in Olivia as part of the group’s effort to grow their ‘made from scratch’ menu.

Welcome back, dedicated readers and fans! Man, what is it about getting older where fall just hits better every single year? I love fall! The air is crisp, my candles somehow smell better, my chai teas are yummier (I had to switch off espresso because I was entirely too hyped up), and my annual “Tour de Soups” is starting off strong.

Of course, this is a legal column, so clearly, something else is brewing: new laws.
